I know I bang on about this but shopping in Brighton is the best! This time I want to show you around Workshop. If you love pared back style, good design and the home-crafted look of wood, cotton and ceramics, then this is the shop for you. Let me show you around.
Tucked in a side street just minutes off the seafront, you could easily walk past this tiny shop. But don’t! I popped in just last week for props for a shoot. The reason – everything in the shop seemlessly works together – which is good news when looking for bits and pieces to style a shoot.
The homewares they source have a Scandi feel but they also have kitchen wares from Japan too – like wasbai bows and table brushes. Everything just fits together. Siiigh! Even their shop logo is super stylishly cool.
The shop is tiny but jam-packed with lots of ideas that you can take away for your own home. Here’s my tips on how you can give your space a ‘Workshop’ look.
#1 They have cleverly painted the walls white to create a clean backdrop for showcasing their selection of wooden bowls and old fashioned lanterns. The two floors of this shop are light and airy. I love the stripped back washed wood of the furniture, don’t you? I’m a little bit in love with the brick flooring which has an industrial look too.
#2 Enamelware always remind me of camping – in a good way. I love these spoons and the little dishes for serving up food. And who doesn’t like a wicker storage baskets to stash away clutter in the home? I like the recycled water glasses too.
#3 I’ve just finished my bathroom and I’m on the look out for smart accessories to dress my room. These simple cloths are perfect for guests towels. And the metal dishes are perfect for the scented soaps they sell (I have the cocoa butter one by my basin right now).
#4 They have large stripped wooden shelving to display bowls, cottons and homewares. As well as simple hooks on the walls to hang chopping boards and linen aprons. {I’ve totally stolen the idea for the copper rail for my kitchen}
The shop has only recently opened – and I am already a complete fan. I have snapped up a mini chopping board for cheese, wooden brushes for cleaning, lots of natural soaps and a room scent for my linens. Yep, I have shopped till I dropped in this place for sure. You have to check out their instagram account which, I have to say, is one of the best I have seen by a shop a long while.
Obviously, I would like you to come here to Brighton to check out this Workshop in the flesh – but if you need your style fix before then – they you can shop on-line. What do you think? What is on your wish list (let me know in the comment box below).

It’s full of things that you didn’t know you needed until you see them. I’m in love with the lavender soap I got from them.
I’ve only been to Brighton once when I was shopping for my wedding dress but I’d definitely like to visit again especially if there are lovely shops like this.
