The interior’s of restaurants can be so ground breaking with their design. That is why I was so excited to be invited to the latest restaurant opening in Brighton – The Ivy In The Lanes. I knew the interior would be instagram-worthy and inspirational for my own home.

Brighton Restaurant Review – The Ivy In The Lanes   

The Ivy in The Lanes – has been one of the most hotly anticipated restaurant to come to Brighton for a long time. Described as ‘laid-back’ all dining experience and it the first of the Ivy’s coastal sites. It’s located in the grade II listed old post office, situated right in the centre of town near Heals.  The building had been left empty for many years – and needed an injection of love. I’ve been watching the renovations from afar with great excitement.
When I was invited to an exclusive blogger’s brunch, I put on my glad rags and heals and headed into town to explore the interior in more detail.

Inspirational Design

I went to The Ivy in London back in the 90s – when Kate Moss and her pals were always snapped falling out of the place in the small hours. It had that feeling of a somewhere private, exclusive and cool. The stainglass,high windows were always a draw as paparazzi couldn’t snap the celebs when they were relaxing. I knew the interior of their latest venture would be exceptional. And I can honestly say the Brighton version of The Ivy is a million times better.
The design team have embraced the maximalism trend – with bold wallpapers on the ceilings, clashing prints, creeping plants, lush velvet seating and the walls are populated with art. It’s a no-expense-spared look. This is a photo-heavy post – as I’m going to struggle in put into words every inch of this place.

Instagram Worthy Design

Totally wow interiors, don’t you think? But it is the loos that have got all the blogger’s excited. There is a 1950s style velvet seat in the middle, individual dressing tables, and ornate marble floor and each actual look has been designed differently. I’m not going to lie, I spent most of my time in here, snapping away for my socials. The photo above of me (taken by fellow blogger Lara from Frankie & the Lamb) is me in the toilets!

If you are looking for inspiration for your home and you are a lover of high end interiors – then this is the place for you. Brighton has desperately needed a stylish restaurant for a very long time. We have lots of kooky places to eat but nowhere that outstanding that feels perfect for special occasions. Old school faves like Hotel Du Vin or Riddle & Finn feel old and tired compared to this place.   Apparently, there is a two-month waiting list to get a table here. When I went for the blogger’s brunch, the place was packed with people snapping away. Everyone was taking photos of the interior as the space. So pack your camera when you come.

I’m not a restaurant critic (mostly as I don’t eat meat or dairy). Breakfast was lovely but there were limited vegan options for someone fussy like me. So, in the name of research, I asked a friend who were luckily to get a lunchtime spot and she said the food was excellent. And she was sat next to local celebrity Norman Cook aka Fat Boy Slim. It is going to be one of those places where you will rub shoulders with famous faces and Brighton characters.  

My favourite parts of The Ivy In The Laines?

Where do I start…. My heart raced for the gold wallpaper, the floating octopus on the ceilings, the Fornasetti style drawings of Brighton Pavillion in the private dining room, the loos and the mustard velvet chairs that matched my new shoes.
It’s fair to say I was impressed with the space. The renovation has brought out all the best features in this building. I’ve already talking about taking my sister here for her 40th in November. I can’t wait to go back.
The brasserie will have a DJ spinning music every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7pm – 11pm, and on weekends during brunch, 11am – 5pm.
