when it comes to decking out your dining table for the holiday season, I’m more than ready to share my insider tips.

1. Add Drama Above your Christmas Table

Let’s start with the ceiling! Adding drama above the table can elevate your whole dining experience and is a great way to bring a festive vibe without overloading the table itself. I love using renter-friendly Command hooks to suspend baubles, paper decorations, fringing, disco balls, and paper chains above a table.

The key here is to use bold colours—think electric pinks, neon blues, and golds for maximum impact. Use satin ribbon to hang your decorations at varying lengths to create a playful, kaleidoscopic effect. Trust me, your guests will be talking about it all night!

2. Create Bespoke Place Settings

Personal touches are what really make a dinner party feel special. A great way to make your guests feel welcomed is by creating bespoke name cards for each person. You don’t have to go overboard—sometimes simple works best.

One of my favourite quick ideas is to glue three peppermint candy canes together to form a tripod shape and attach a name card to each. It’s super cute, adds a little festive flair to your table. And the candy canes double as a sweet treat at the end of the meal.

3. Style a Colourful Festive Centrepiece

Every table needs a focal point—and what better way to create one than with a fun and festive centrepiece? This doesn’t have to be anything too fussy or expensive; sometimes the simplest ideas are the most effective. I love filling a clear glass vase or bowl with baubles for a bright and cheerful display.

You could even add a few quirky decorations that reflect your personality or interests. Think of it as a conversation starter with your Christmas diner guests. Whether it’s metallic baubles, vintage glass ornaments, or a cluster of mini presents, make sure it’s something that will catch the eye. You could place a bauble at each place setting too for a chic look.

4. Layer Your Linens

Linens are an absolute must for the holiday season, and the more, the better. I like to go all out with layering my tablecloths. Start with a festive tablecloth – think classic red, green, or something metallic for a bit of sparkle. Then add a runner down the centre to break up the pattern and give a sense of structure.

For added festive fun, go for a runner with seasonal details—like holly, snowflakes, or metallic accents that shimmer in the candlelight. And don’t forget your napkins. I love styling my Christmas diner table with patterned napkins like stripes, plaid, or something embroidered which will tie everything together and bring a little extra styling magic to each place setting.

5. Serve a Bespoke Christmas Cocktail

A stylish cocktail can be just the thing to get your party started, don’t you agree. Greet your guests with a festive drink, and trust me, it sets the tone for a fun evening ahead.

One of my favourite holiday cocktails is the Christmas Cranberry Twist. All you need is some Prosecco, a splash of cranberry juice, and a cute garnish—like a peppermint candy cane or a sprig of rosemary. It’s fresh, fun, and looks gorgeous on the table. Plus, it’ll leave your guests feeling extra festive! And hey, feel free to claim this recipe as your own!

With these five tips in your back pocket, you’re ready to host a Christmas dinner that’s bold, beautiful, and oh-so-festive. Whether you’re entertaining friends, family, or just the people you love, a little extra effort in your table styling can really make the evening feel extra special.
