On Monday, I was invited to a exclusive pop-up house set up by interiors website Houzz. National newspapers have been calling this pop-up ‘Britain’s Trendiest Home’. Home design platform, Houzz, took over a beautiful townhouse in Soho, London called Houzz Of 2018. The ideas was to create room that reflect the big interior trends for 2018.

Houzz Of 2018 With Hästens

After only a few moments in the house, it was quick to see that is was a melting pot of the latest interior trends, filled with inspirational furniture and jam-packed with the latest styling ideas. It was a style haven.

All the interior trends were based on community research taken by Houzz. Spread over five-floors was a modern rustic dining room, 1970s revival living room, crafted bathroom and deep green kitchen – as well as lashing of Scandi styling in the ‘Eclectic Traveller’ bedroom.

When exploring this exciting pop up, I meet up with the Hästens team, the brand behind the uber cool bedroom. Hästens are the champions of insightful sleep – and they were bursting with style and practical tips to promote a great night’s’ sleep for the tired amongst us.

The Eclectic Traveller Bedroom

The first room I explored was the bedroom – and by far my favourite room in the pop-up. The layout consisted of a huge bed layered with super soft linens, a capsule wardrobe and the ensuite bathroom complete with walk-in shower. This dreamy bedroom was painted in tones of blush  – similar tone the cover I shot with Good Homes magazine in November which you can see in this post.

Hästens were the sleep brain-bots behind this stylish bedroom – which featuring their king-size bed, leather headboard, mattress, fluffy duvet and tons of cushions.

You can spot their trademark blue check just peeking out from under the base of the bed.Is the Houzz of 2018 ‘Britain’s Trendiest Home’ as claimed by national newspapers? Designed For Mindful Sleep

Hästens are a Swedish brand brand and they are on a mission to help us Brits get a better quality of sleep. For decades sleep in the UK has been undervalued in our hectic lives. It’s only now we starting to understand the positive power restorative power of sleep. The Hästens team explained that it’s not just about rest. It’s about enhancing your physical, as well as our mental wellness – in a way that will change your life in your awaking time to be more joyful.

And did you know that better quality sleep makes us feel younger, and look younger too? People who sleep more, tend to have less wrinkles later in life.  When you have had a good night’s sleep you are a more rational person, able to deal with stress and life’s adventures with a calm and collect mind.

And that is what this bedroom tried to convey – that the room, and more importantly the bed, had been cleverly designed to give you a good quality nights’ sleep.

All of this is something, that I have been personally interest in. I’ve been consciously managing my energy levels and workflow to be more productive during the week.  From my own experience that when I’m tired, I make the wrong decisions and have a short attention span.

Trying The Mattress

In our lifetime, we will spent over 1/3 of our lives in bed. That’s a heck of a lot of sleeping! That’s the Hästens team were keen for me to actually get into their bed to try it out for myself. I snuggled right in there with my blogger friend – Cate St Hill on the other side of me.

The mattress was so squishy. Their super-friendly PR manager Sanja Tegeltija explained that a slightly softer mattress supports the curve in your lower back. The bed is made from 100% natural materials which help to with perspiration at night (Hästens’  are made from layers of Horse Hair, felt and wool).

The Hand-Crafted Bathroom

This space was showcasing the crafted trend with lots of handwoven textiles and handmade items. I was in love with woven wall hangings, rugs and rustic stools to stack your towels on.

The 70s Living Room

Shall we just take a moment to soak in that orange velvet sofa?

The 1970s revival that has been hitting our homes – is not about swirly carpets and textured walls. Instead, this is a chic, LA vibes style blend of bold patterns and gold accessories to celebrate this bold decade. Is the Houzz of 2018 ‘Britain’s Trendiest Home’ as claimed by national newspapers? The Leafy Green Kitchen

The dark green has been around for a while now – but rather than it’s garish predecessors (kermit green anyone?) – green in 2018 is a deep, rich shades of leaf green that remind me of Nordic ferns.

This is the perfect colour to spruce up a kitchen this year.

The Modern Rustic Dining Room

Natural and soothing, this trend is a fresh approach to country living and one that looks just as good in an city flat as in a cottage.

The blonde wood table with the shell-inspired light fitting make for a very relaxed dining situation.

What I took away from Houzz of 2018

Visiting this house was very exciting and inspiring for me as a stylist. I managed to see the latest trends used in actual rooms and it was great to see how others would style the spaces. With the thought and detail in each room, I felt that I came with a few life skills to help my sleeping patterns too. Plus, I now want a Hästens mattress so I can look forward to a wrinkle-free future.

Funnily enough, the night before the event, I had a dreadful nights’ sleep with an early start in the morning for London. After the talk, came home – and rather than pushing on through with work, I took a dog walk to clear my mind. And guess what, I felt much better.

Oh – in some exciting news my own home is going to be featured on Houzz in a few weeks – I’ll make sure to share that here 🙂

In the meantime , what was your favourite trend that Houzz has highlighted? Mine, obviously is the bedroom.
