In this post, I’m sharing my scoop on my favourite interior shops both on the high street and on-line. And as an extra treat, I’ve added a few more of my secret gems from in and around Brighton too.
My Little Black Book Of Interior Shops
Real Homes magazine and myself have had a long love affair. I’ve styled covers and features for their in-house team for many years. That why it was a lovely surprise when they asked me to share my ‘Little Black Book of Interior Shops’ for their pages. I open up my ‘little black book’ of shops – from hidden gems, to bargain finds, to vintage treasure troves, to my fave little independent shops in Brighton. In the spirit of this post, I thought I would share my shop adventures below with you.

Best For Interior Inspiration
Shops are a fab place to gather style ideas for your own home. You can’t beat Igig General Store in Hove. It’s a little out the way but worth the trip. The store is full of worn linens, garden finds, rustic wooden bowls and simple styling ideas that I always store away in my mind to try out at home.
When shopping for gifts for friends in and around Brighton, I make a point of dropping by Lavender Rooms which has the best scented soy candles for just £5. Perfect for little gift for someone special.
Best For Unique Homewares
I fell in love with Anthropologie after a trip to in New York about 10 years ago. I adore it’s mix of fashion, home, boho, glam and quirk, so was thrilled it came to London. Their flagship store is on Regent’s Street – but there are a few now dotted around London.
I often pick up props for shoots from Rockett St George they have so many quirky wonderful things to buy. They are also based just up the road from my in the village of Ditchling.
I’m also a huge fan of Rose & Grey – especially their hardware and shelving. They have a colourful collection of velvet sofas in all the best shades which are perfect investment if you are looking to update your living room. Just look…
Best For Online Vintage
Over the years, I’ve had a long love affair with Design Vintage for their rugs and baskets, and their beautiful range of painted furniture from Hungry. I’ve had my eye on a dresser for years (if only I had the room)
If you are looking for vintage furniture with character – then Home Barn is for you. An online junk shop with lots of industrial finds for your home from dining tables to armoires. They have a range of bespoke dining table made from reclaimed timbers which would give your home that authentic rustic look.
My latest discovery is for vintage furniture is Soho Home. Set up by the people behind the boutique hotel chair – Soho House. You can buy anything that you spot in their hotels from lighting, to bedding, bath robs, to glasses from their bar, to the vintage furniture in the rooms. All designed so that you can get that ultimate boutique hotel look at home.
Best For Style Bargains
There are so many great places on the high street to pick up affordable homewares. All my black and white cushions in my living room are from Dunelm and cost less than a £5 each.
I love Urban Outfitters for quirky patterns and prints – they also have great rugs which not many people know about.
My go-to for affordable style is H&M time and time again. And in Brighton we have a large Zara Home where I shop for door knobs for furniture, dishes and platters for kitchen shoots and pretty napkins. Then Flying Tiger Copenhagen (great name!!) is brilliant for inexpensive colourful candlesticks, paper napkins, spices, kitchenware…..
Best Shops For Furniture
Swoon for statement pieces and stylish furniture. Their fronted gold sideboard storage is eye catching – and whichever piece you buy, you’ll take it with you from home to home.
For luxury and shabby chic, it’s always going to be Willis & Gambier for me. While Barker & Stonehouse have a huge selection accessories, furniture and rugs that echo loft living style. Loaf for an instant style fix for your living rooms like this Dixie sofa and the Jonesy in on-trend blush velvet.
Sweetpea and Willow who stock beds that ooze boho-glam.
The One Shop I can’t Resist
HomeSense below for their high quality bed linens and fab kitchenware – from copper pots and pan to designer storage jars. I always come out with a cushion I don’t really need but love. Just last week, I bought a plant pot on leg which I have squeezed into my home.
