You'll Love These 3 Ivory Bathroom Looks

[AD] Looking for bathroom inspiration? Great! Today, I’m sharing three ivory bathroom looks styled with a modern twist. Each design makes a strong style statement, using a classic ivory bathroom suite as the starting point.

If you are an avid reader of interior magazines, you would have seen coloured bathroom suites popping up all in the pages. As an interior stylist, I’ve styled pink, blush, red, turquoise, lemon and even avocado suites for style pages. Why? Well, coloured bathrooms look very eye-catching in a magazine but (let’s be honest here) they don’t always work with every home style or period property.

Let’s face it, you’d have to be pretty brave to have an electric blue bathroom!

Take A Second Look At Ivory Bathrooms

Just because a brightly coloured bathroom is not for you, please don’t think the only other option is a white ceramic suite. Have you considered an ivory bathroom as an option? Savvy style hunters know that an ivory suite can update your bathroom with a hint of colour, while at the same time bring a modern look to your home.

To inspire you, I have teamed up with Burlington Bathrooms to show you three ways to style the soft ivory tones of their ivory ‘Medici’ collection. I was so inspired by the three ivory bathroom looks, I even got a little bit creative, coming up with a mood board for my own bathroom. Bet you can’t guess which one!

The Medici Ivory Collection

Burlington Bathrooms have just launched The Medici Collection – a range of classic bathroom designs in a warm ivory finish. The collection takes its name from the historical shade ‘Ivoire de Medici’ which was popular during the 1920s. The tone takes its name from the warm ivory hue achieved by Italian ceramicists working for the famous Medici family in Florence, Italy.

This collection of sanitaryware and accessories from Burlington has one aim – to use an ivory colourway to give your bathroom a contemporary, new look. The collection is vast (trust me, I have been drooling over their website for hours) with baths, basins and toilets in various sizes and shapes to suit every bathroom. You can either use the whole suite, or add elements to refresh your existing scheme.

Let me show you how to style each ivory bathroom look into your home so that you can be ahead of the fashion pack. Below are three trend mood boards that will make your heart beat a little faster.

Look One | Making Waves

In June, Pinterest announced that ‘wave shapes’ were going to huge in interiors. From seascape wallpapers, to scalloped shaped headboards to fishscale tiles. (Check out my guest bedroom as an great example). The ‘Waves’ trend was made for bathrooms, don’t you think?

To get this trend looking sleek and chic in your home, you’ll need to adopt a colour pallet of blush, soft blues, teal with touches of navy and, of course, ivory.

Start with the basin. If you have the space go for a pedestal one (like the one above pictured). For a smaller bathroom that needs storage, a vanity unit is ideal. Behind the basin try tiling with over-sized pink metro tiles. Then make a feature in the showering area with scalloped tiles. On the floor, go for a mosaic tile that picks out the colours in the room.

To finish off the ivory bathroom look, paint the ceiling in a soft sky blue bathroom paint.

This is the perfect look for a compact family bathroom where you want to make a big impression in a small space.

Look 2 | Monochrome Marble

Love minimalism? Then this bathroom trend could be the one for you. The Monochrome Marble trend is about embracing the clean lines championed by the Art Deco movement. But for today’s bathrooms, we’re giving it a thoroughly modern twist with dalmation print fabrics and hexagonal tiling on the walls. Tiles Direct have the best matt black tiles – see HERE.

Start by creating drama with the Medici Classic basin which has a ornate black metal stand. Personally, I would opt for the Anglesey chrome mixer tap for a streamlined look.

Have you ever heard of a statement loo? No! Well, let me explain. This is when your toilet becomes the focus of your bathroom design. Rather tucking it in the corner of your room out of sight, your loo is the main talking point in the room. Take a look at the loo pictured above with the wall-mounted cistern with chrome brackets. It is picture perfect for this trend. That is a statement loo.

Finish with giant marble floor tiles that continue up the walls. Then above painted in grey. If you want to mix it up a bit, add black hexagonal wall tiles. Just make sure they have a matt finish not gloss. Finally dress your windows with a roman a blind made from a dalmation print. You could even go for spotty towels if you want to go all out – I spotted some in Marks and Spencers.

Look 3 | Modern Eclectic

This look is all about blending the chicest bathroom trends from the past few season to create a completely new look. How to start creating this look at home? Modern Eclectic is about that fine balance between creating a contrast while at the same time allowing a room to feel harmonious.

Start by painting one wall peach, then contrast with an adjacent wall in a teal marble wallpaper. Flooring should be in dark tones like navy lino which will highlight the warmth of the Medici ivory roll top bath.

Deep and dark purple metro tiles behind the bath are key to nailing this look. Pick ones with a bevelled finish to add depth to your bathroom room scheme.

Look out for smokes glass accessories, copper accents like this wire storage basket and fill your walls with graphic framed art.

If you have always loved the dark interior trend but were unsure on how to bring it into your bathroom, now you know how. It’s about that fine balance for this ivory bathroom look.

My Medici Bathroom Mood Board

On a personal note, I was very inspired by this Modern Eclectic trend. I had a little play to see what this look would like in my own home. What do you think?

We can even cry our hearts out in the bathroom without people noticing. And because of this, we sometimes refer to the bathroom as our very own sanctuary.
