Position your under or near a window to make the most of morning light

Does it really matter where I position my bed?

Absolutely but it all depends on the shape of your bedroom. There’s three ways you can do this:

The first is placing your bed in the centre of your room, then add nightstands on both sides to make the room feel warmer and cosier.

The second one is positioning the bed underneath your window so that you can welcoming in the sun in the mornings, and this will provide relaxing and refreshing vibes.

Last one is placing the bed against the longest wall in your room giving you space to place the rest of your furniture into your bedroom while keeping your room looking stylish and inviting.

Start by positioning your bed, then add in smaller pieces of furniture.

How do I achieve the perfect flow in order to create a functional yet aesthetically pleasing room?

A bedroom first and foremost has to be functional. You’ll want easy access to all your drawers and doors, and the best way to ensure this is to have enough space between bigger pieces of furniture.

Keep your bedroom simple, positioning essential furniture first, such as your bed, wardrobe, and bedside tables. You’ll want to make sure that your bedroom furniture UK fits into your room and doesn’t over crowd it.

Once you have easy access to these pieces, you can add in small pieces of furniture and accessories into the room so long as they don’t obstruct or block any areas. You’ll want to be able to freely walk around your bed – and open your wardrobe doors, so hold that in mind.

Tiles look incredibly modern in a bedroom

Carpet or Harwood flooring – yay or nay?

It all depends on what look or feel you want when bedroom decorating, and the kind of style you’re going for.

For example, hardwood or laminated floors can look sleek but you might want to soften the look with rugs!

Carpets can feel very indulgent and cosy underfoot but might be difficult to keep clean in busy homes.

Floor tiles can look very Mediterranean, and are great for a high glamour look. They also can look cool if you have a wet room leading off your bedroom.

See, what flooring you go for very much depends on how you enjoy your home and your lifestyle.

Match your bedding to your walls for a cohesive look

How do I choose the perfect colour palette when bedroom decorating?

Choosing calmer colours like blue, white or pale pink is the go-to to avoid overstimulation when trying to drift off to sleep, and you can add personality with an accent wall, bright décor, and designs. Use Pinterest to work out exactly what colours you love for your bedroom decor.

Make a small bedroom appear bigger with mirrors

Mirror mirror on the wall… or wardrobe?

Mirrors are indispensable for any bedroom not only are they are functional but they can also complement your bedroom decorating design. Because of their capacity to reflect light, mirrors add depth to a bedroom helping to make it look bigger and brighter.

I like to have a few in my bedroom as that is where I get ready in the mornings. You could have a large freestanding mirror on one wall, one over your dressing table, or even go for mirrored wardrobe doors.

My bedroom doesn’t have enough texture, how do I make it bolder and more interesting?

The perfect choice would be to add colourful textiles. Look out for a quilt, patterned curtains, cushions that will give your bedroom a sumptuous look. And textiles in cool prints or patterns will give your bedroom a personal touch. Rule number one is not to have the bedding blend into the room, instead it should stand out, giving contrast and depth to the environment.

Have a stash of different colour throws to hand that you can switch up to reflect the changing seasons.

Plants make for a relaxing sleeping environment

Is it safe to put plants in my bedroom?

The short answer is YES! And having indoor plants in your bedroom can be good for improving the quality of the air during the day because they absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, which is good for our health.

Recommended indoor plants include aloe vera, peace lilies and spider plants.

If keeping up with plants isn’t your thing, fake ones will breath life into your bedroom decorating room scheme!
