Whatever room you’re refreshing, it’s time to style your home these 9 flooring ideas that are going to be on trend for 2023.
As an interior stylist, I was commissioned to art direct and style a huge shoot for LifeStyle Floors (one of the UK’s biggest flooring suppliers). Before I started, I did a ton of research into the different flooring trends for the year ahead. So all the images you are going to see today are from that shoot – and they are going to make the backbone of this blog post.

9 on trend flooring ideas for 2024
In the world of interiors, a new year brings new flooring ideas and I’m here to ensure you know exactly what these trends are for 2023.
Read on to see my top picks for the season ahead!
1 VibranT Kitchen Flooring
The kitchen is the heart of the home and you’ll want it to feel like a space that you can relax in rather than just see it as a utilitarian space. Adding pattern flooring is one way to create visual interest. On a practical note, patterned flooring is easier to keep clean too.
2 Colour PopPing Carpet
There are many ways to add a splash of colour to your home, and one way is with carpet. Instead of playing it safe with neutrals in 2023 you’ll want to choose flooring in a bold shades like red.
Today, carpet has reinvented itself with fresh, modern colours – and the choice is huge. Not only does it add glamour but it also makes a fantastic style statement in a room, providing an eye-catching result.
3 luxurious marble finishes
Marble and onyx effect flooring is no longer confined to bathrooms. You’ll start to see this flooring being carried into living areas and dining spaces for a luxurious look.
4 Dark Decor
With many of us spending more time in our homes, there is an interior trend for creating welcoming environments that are an escape from the busy world. One way to do this is by covering our floors in cosy carpet it deep shades like navy, grey or charcoal.
5 Herringbone & Chevron Floorig
Herringbone flooring has been very popular for the past few years, and I don’t expect that to change anytime soon. However, for style hunters looking for the next best trend, I predict that chevron will take over. It’s a great and unique alternative in homes; it still provides the beautiful zig-zag shape people love, but in a uniform alignment that shows off the colour of each plank, whether in LVT or wood.

6 The New Vinyls
If you want to add pattern flooring to your bathroom without the bother (or expense) of tiling, then take a look at LVT (luxury vinyl tile) as a flooring option. It’s hard wearing and water resistant but it also warm underfoot. For the year ahead, tiles prints with a rustic edge are going to feature heavily in our bathrooms and ensuites.
7 warmer toned floors
Neutral colours have long been popular in homes worldwide and will remain popular for the rest of 2022 and into 2023. Neutral colour choices, especially flooring, allow you to easily change other design aspects in your home, such as accessories and wall colour. Neutral flooring give our homes a soft, cosy feel, making them a comfortable and relaxing place to spend time.

8 Sustainable Flooring
More people are choosing sustainable home flooring options in 2023 as they become increasingly aware of their carbon footprint and how their buying choices affect the environment. Sustainable flooring options such as wood, wool carpets and sisal will play a key role in interiors this year.
9 Focus On flooring
In 2023, we’re going to see our floors play a bigger role in the overall design of our rooms. Keeping walls plain, all the colour and drama will come from our choice of flooring. That can be with a carpet in a golden shade, or a patterned flooring that brings drama to our rooms. Don’t cover over your flooring with a rug, but instead let it shine by complementing the colours with your your accessories and furnishings.
